In a surprising turn of events, Joy Behar candidly interrogated actress Rose Byrne on the popular talk show The View, focusing on her husband Bobby Cannavale's bold choices in the entertainment industry, particularly his involvement in some rather explicit scenes. This exchange delved into the nature of their creative relationship, given that Cannavale has garnered attention for his racy performances in his film roles.
The discussion began when Behar highlighted Byrne's spouse while promoting her new dramatic film, titled If I Had Legs I Would Kick You. During this segment, Behar pointed out that the couple had recently collaborated on the Apple TV+ series, Platonic, where Cannavale made an appearance that was described as significantly "not safe for daytime television." With a hint of intrigue, Behar remarked, "You guys often work together, and I understand he had quite a risqué cameo in Platonic."
Byrne couldn’t help but laugh as she acknowledged, "It was definitely on the raunchy side, yes."
Behar pressed further, stating, "I won’t disclose the specifics, but it was heavily X-rated. So, how do you feel about him taking part in such explicit scenes, and what draws you to collaborate so frequently? Most folks wouldn’t be able to manage it."
In response, Byrne praised Cannavale, admitting she had initially felt hesitant about working alongside her partner. "I completely understand that everyone has their own comfort levels. It’s such a deeply personal decision, and I always approached it with some reluctance," she shared. "However, I’ve found it to be incredibly enjoyable."
She went on to explain why they work so well together: "He serves as my fantastic creative sounding board. We’ve collaborated on stage, in smaller television projects, and each experience has been nothing short of fun."
Since their marriage in 2012, Byrne and Cannavale have built a life together and are also proud parents to two children.
Behar didn’t hold back, challenging, "You really don’t grow tired of each other while working?"
Byrne confidently replied that their professional endeavors often translate to even more enjoyable moments spent together: "It’s almost more enjoyable working together. You revert back to just the two of you, which grants you quality time. He’s such a remarkable actor, and I hold a tremendous respect for his craft."
